Family members running family offices are paid less than the professionals they hire
The 2026 North America Family Office Report from RBC and Campden Wealth, published on 29 September 2026, surveyed 155 offices. It records a 44% pay gap between non-family and family chief executives, and a private markets book where nearly half of attempted fund exits did not complete.

A third of family offices expect a leadership change within five years, Citi finds. Most are not ready for it.
Citi Wealth's 2026 Global Family Office Report, published on 22 September 2026, surveyed 351 family offices in 41 countries. Portfolios performed well and public equities took the incremental capital. Succession is where the survey turns uncomfortable.
